The public library with its spectacular building facade has just opened in early October and is part of the cultural district of Tianjin City - China. MVRDV and local architect Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute (TUPDI) jointly designed this large project and became part of the master plan developed by GMP .
Taking 3 years, the building is dramatically built around a glowing, spherical auditorium that they call ' The Eye '. With a futuristic design, this building also looks very grand and large as it comes directly out of the science-fiction film .
With an area of 33,700 m 2 and 5 floors, it is appropriate that this library be home to more than 1.2 million books. The books uniquely frame the space from top to bottom, from staircase to seat to ceiling are all no exception. Indeed Tianjin Binhai Library is perfect if referred to as the paradise of the bibliophiles around the world.
