It's hard not to be amazed at the look of this one house. Standing majestically in the area of Sanur, Bali, the home is intended to be a resting place of a large family is immediately steal the attention because of its unique shape and foundation. Is a d-associates architect , a Jakarta-based architecture firm, which acts as the 'brain' behind its development.

Speaking with Sugar & Cream about the project as a whole, Gregorius Supie Yolodi as Principal in Charge and Maria Rosantina as Partner in Charge , stated that location is one of the factors that makes it interesting and different than usual.

Explaining further about the concept of the 897-square-meter house architecture on this 1227-square-meter land, Gregorius says that the grand concept that animates the design of this house is to reinterpret the original Balinese architectural spirit into today's architecture.
d-associates architect adapts the spatial configuration of the traditional Balinese dwelling which emphasizes the breaking of the masses to make the outside space and the building obscure.

The layout format of the building itself is adapted to the context of the site, by responding to the elongated site form. The adjustment resulted in an elongated shape of the building with an orientation of buildings facing west and east, thus maximizing the view of the building openings on the north and south sides, especially the north side where there is a golf course as the main focal point .

The main building is divided into two parts of the volume of space: the upper part is made like a wooden crib floating over the floor, which actually has the opposite element of transparent and light volume as the family room. This strategy generates a building mass that is more friendly to the human scale while creating a sense of home.

One of the attractions of this building is a terrace with double height as an upper floor connector between the masses of broken buildings. The front part of the foyer is the translation of the "aling-aling" element of the traditional Balinese dwelling, which is a transitional element from outside the house into, creating a procession that also signifies the beginning of a private space within a home.

In this house, d-associates translate these traditional elements into a small, enclosed foyer with recycled ulin woodwork (previously the wood is a railroad). The use of materials is made in harmony between indoor and outdoor . For carport cover using stone as wall finishing , wood as column cover, and exposed concrete as the main material of bottom platform floor .

The top uses dark wood finishing and plywood gives the impression of warmth, while for the bottom, the light-induced effect of glass creates a seamless platform that blends in space with gardens and pools, with the expression of pilotis columns. This configuration also serves as a modern translation of the typology of stilt houses, one of the most common forms of shelter in Southeast Asia.
